You were there – a poem to my father (who have had multiple sclerosis for the past ten years)

When I was little, you were there

When I was afraid, you were there

When I was alone, you were there

When I was in doubt, you were there

When I needed advice, you were there

When I opened myself to you, you were there

When mom got hurt, you were there

When I made mistakes, you were there

When I moved out, you were there

You’ve always been there

And now, dear father, I am the one who is here

Where you were for me

I am now here for you

And you are there

Still
